Sophomore Connor Persels is definitely one actively involved CCA student. In addition to being apart of German Club and occasionally mentoring middle school percussionists, Connor does a lot of technology-based work and is apart of Jazz Ensemble.
Many students may know Connor for being tech-savvy, as he really likes working with computers. “My brother did a fair bit of computer gaming when I was little so I guess you could say it caught on to me,” he said.
He is Backstage Tech for the play and musical. During these shows, he sets up and runs lights. Additionally, he used to be in an internship class where he repaired computers on B days, however, he doesn’t do this as much anymore since he can only come in during advisory. Still, he has the talent of repairing and working with computers, a unique skill that not everybody has.
Another extracurricular activity that Connor is involved in is Jazz Ensemble. A Jazz band student has to audition order to be apart of Jazz Ensemble. Connor was ecstatic about playing the drums in Jazz Ensemble. This was his first year. He said, “I’m happy Mr. Smith gave me the opportunity to play with the talented individuals [in Jazz Ensemble].¨
Connor has enjoyed Jazz for quite some time. He enjoys Jazz as a genre, which is one reason he is apart of the school’s Jazz band. Another reason he likes Jazz Ensemble is because of the people involved in it. “Jazz band after a while becomes a family,¨ he stated.
Connor is a great student at CCA, not just for being apart of Jazz Ensemble, but for also knowing a lot about using technology, and for being hardworking and ambitious.
